Sycamore Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor. We are a Southern Baptist church affiliated with SBTC and adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000. We are a rural, multi-generational congregation. Decatur is located in Wise County, north of Fort Worth, Texas, and is on the northern edge of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex expansion. We are currently remodeling our sanctuary in anticipation of church growth as a result of new housing in our immediate area. Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver sermons for Sunday morning service and lead/teach Bible study on Wednesday evenings
- Administer church ordinances (Lord’s Supper, baptism)
- Lead evangelism and caring ministry for those in the church and broader community
- Conduct and coordinate visits to members and prospects
- Provide spiritual counseling
- Perform weddings and funerals
- Work effectively with the Worship Minister, Deacons and committees
- Facilitate church business meetings
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to teach and preach God’s Word with sound doctrine
- Agree with and abide by the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
- Agree with and abide by the church’s statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality; statement on the Sanctity of Human Life; and our Marriage Policy as documented in our Policies and Procedures (available on our website sycamoredecatur.com)
- Comply with other matters as addressed in our Policies and Procedures.
Strong candidates will have:
- completed some Seminary training at a Southern Baptist affiliated seminary
- demonstrated the ability to effectively teach and preach Scripture
- demonstrated the ability to provide spiritual individual/couples/family counseling
- an outgoing, friendly personality and ability to connect with those in the community
- willingness to engage in appropriate civic, denominational and school events
Compensation will include an annual salary, retirement and insurance benefits. We also offer a contemporary four-bedroom, brick parsonage on the church property.
