Associate Pastor

South Side Baptist Church is a body of believers seeking to glorify God by making disciples in Abilene and the world as we live out the love of Jesus Christ in a community of faith. REPORTS TO LEAD PASTOR

Qualifications

• Mature, growing disciple with a consistent devotional life
• Meets the spiritual qualifications found in I Timothy and Titus
• Seminary training and 3+ years of ministry experience preferred
• Ability to work on a team towards specific goals in a mutually edifying and supportive manner
• Ability to work on multiple tasks, be flexible, and work with little supervision
• Self-motivated, strategic thinker, with strong communication skills
• Commitment to and agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Follow the Constitution, By Laws, and Policy & Procedures Manual of SSBC
• Maintain regular office hours and be on-the-job 40 plus hours per week
• Committed to life-long learning, desiring to continue to pursue theological training and leadership development

Responsibilities

• Lead the college ministry by teaching, overseeing, planning, and leadership development.
• Recruit, build, develop, resource, equip, and empower a college leadership team as well as adult college ministry team.
• Regularly disciple church members and train them to disciple others.
• Help with service planning and membership processes.
• Gifted to teach Bible Study regularly and preach several times a year.
• Implement men’s ministry events (only a few a year) as well as be on teaching rotation.
• Oversee the Adult Bible Study with initial training, ongoing training and encouragement of teachers. Will also help train more teachers. Help set overall vision of Adult Bible Study alongside Lead Pastor.
• Perform the duties of a pastor (e.g., preaching on SunAM regularly, visits to the hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins / counseling / teaching). 
• Will be available to assist the Lead Pastor as needs arise and available to perform other duties as assigned by the elders.
