Position: Special Needs Associate                  

Classification: Non-Exempt, Regular Part Time, Support Staff           

Primary Reporting Relationship: Student Minister

Secondary Reporting Relationship: Family Minister

 

Position Summary

The Special Needs Associate is responsible to assist in special needs ministry planning and development, leading a variety of events, and contributing to the development and shepherding of volunteers within the special needs ministry at First Mansfield. They will be a passionate leader, building teams of staff and volunteers by engaging, supporting, and equipping them with the intent to build a strong pipeline of leaders and relational disciple-making groups throughout the church. They will lead others, self, and thier family to live according to the church’s teaching and practices. They will carry out the church’s mission and perform their duties consistent with the church’s theological beliefs and standards. 

 

Qualifications

  • Heart for a Disciple-Making church
  • Affirmation and alignment with First Mansfield’s Beliefs
  • Ability to work within the context of a team
  • An undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a future in Church ministry
  • Leadership aptitude and experience
  • Technological aptitude and skills (programs like Google Suite, Microsoft Office/Teams, etc.)
  • Flexible, adaptable, and teachable

Development

  • Meet bi-weekly with the Worship Minister to work through required reading (4 books) and formation curriculum alongside other FM associates
  • Meet weekly with Family Minter or Special Needs Minister for leadership development and mentorship.

Job Responsibilities

Part-Time Hours: estimated 10-15 hours per week, January 2025 - May 2026

  • Assist in planning, preparation, communication, and execution of Special Needs ministry programming and events 
  • Oversee discipleship, development, and care of children and volunteers under supervision of the Family Minister and Executive Pastor 
  • Contribute positively to shepherding, care, culture, and development of children and volunteers 
  • Assist in leading special needs ministry midweek programming and special events. 
  • Participate in regular programming and special events at FM 
  • Attend weekly Next Gen meetings and quarterly all-staff meetings
