Pastor of Youth

 

CHURCH HISTORY:

Founded in 1951, as Central Baptist Church under the Baptist Missionary Association. In 1957, the name was changed to Second Baptist Church and joined the Southern Baptist Convention and in 2008, the name was lastly changed to Madisonville Christian Fellowship (MCF).  

Madisonville Christian Fellowship is a multi-generational church of believers that is prayerfully seeking a Pastor of Youth called by God to lead our youth ministries in a new season of growth.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Pastor of Youth will have the responsibility for the spiritual and administrative leadership of all the youth of the church (Jr. High and High School). This role will require the Pastor of Youth to be the primary youth/student leader.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Pastor of Youth is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to conduct Biblical teaching, to engage in pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas pertaining to the youth of the church.
  • Coordinates and plans with the Senior Pastor and preaches in the Senior Pastor's absence when asked.
  • Provide oversight and direction to all youth ministries of the church.
  • Nurture, shepherd, and guide the youth ministry staff and volunteers.
  • Provide visionary pastoral leadership and set attainable short-term and long-term goals for youth ministries.
  • Build momentum and growth for the church.
  • Work closely with Senior Pastor on various pastoral tasks and pastoral care of the families of Madisonville Christian Fellowship.
  • A real and identifiable presence in the lives of the students both in and outside of church activities (i.e.; in homes, at school, sports or other social functions).
  • Consider the personal discipleship of youth to be a priority. Prepare studies focused on needs to youth that are biblically based and Christ centered.
  • Lead the teaching and organization of worship for the Youth on Wednesday and Sunday.
  • Plan, Organize, promote and attend camps, retreats, lock-ins, other outings, etc... for the spiritual development of the students.
  • All other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Meets the spiritual, personal, and character qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
  • 1 Timothy 3:1-7 “This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”
  • Titus 1:6-9 if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.”

 

  • Has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ with a commitment to spiritual health and maturity.
  • In full agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
  • Has a passion for ministering to the youth of the church.
  • Loves preaching and teaching the gospel to youth.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Preferred, but not required, Bachelor's degree or major course work in Ministry, Divinity, Religious Studies, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience in a youth pastoral leadership role.
  • Be willing to submit to a federal criminal background check; including being fingerprinted.

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

  • First and foremost, the Pastor of Youth and Children operates under the authority of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • The Pastor of Youth reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
  • The Senior Pastor will grant the Pastor of Youth the authority necessary to accomplish his duties and responsibilities.
