Bi-vocational Worship Leader needed at Calvary Baptist Church in Kemp, Tx. Our church is a small, rural congregation, that is predominantly older. Our worship style has been traditional, but we are seeking to move to a more blended style. Currently we have a volunteer worship leader, accompanied by a paid pianist. Calvary has an emphasis on expository preaching, and excels at creating a family atmosphere within the church.
This position of worship leader is an exempt, part-time position of ministerial service. The church expects it will take 5-10 hours per week for the worship leader to fulfill his duties.
Job Requirements
• Plan and lead Sunday morning worship in coordination and cooperation with the Pastor.
• Ensure that all worship is in accordance with the church’s statement of faith.
• Coordinate with any necessary accompanists.
• Manage all accompanists’ schedules and recruit substitutes as necessary.
• On occasion be available nights, holidays, and weekends for music ministry events, such as, but not limited to, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and summer VBS.
• Keep informed on traditional and current music methods, materials, promotion, and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.
• Prepare and present annual budget requests for the music ministry to the Stewardship Committee.
• Supervise maintenance and set up of all necessary equipment for worship, including music library and music materials, instruments, musical supplies, and sound equipment.
• Participate in meetings of the church council and liaise with church committees as necessary.
• Adhere to all of the church’s bylaws and policies, as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
• Be an active member of the church.
Job Qualifications
• A baptized Christian with a vibrant spiritual life.
• Full affirmation of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Possession of musical talent.
Compensation
• We expect to be able to provide an annual salary of $5,200. If the candidate can accompany himself, then we will be able to increase this moderately.
