Worship & Student Pastor

Purpose:

Our goal at FBC Crane is to find a man who can on a full-time basis help lead our church in the areas of music and student (6^th-12^th grades) ministry.

Qualifications:

This man must have a heart for leading our congregation in singing to the only one worthy of our praise. He must also have a heart for reaching and teaching students the Bible and how to live out their faith in humble obedience and gratitude for what Jesus has done for them. Must have experience leading a church in the areas of music and students. Prefer someone with Bible college or seminary training but open to someone whose theology aligns and is open to growing in their knowledge.

General Qualifications:

• Meeting the 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5 qualifications for church leaders
• Commitment to FBC Crane’s doctrine, vision, values, and Senior Pastor
• Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
• Pastoral philosophy of equipping and discipling
• Commitment to a team approach to ministry including delegating responsibility to team members
• Teacher with a love for God’s word
• Relational style of leadership and ministry
• Joyful spirit and good sense of humor
• Self-starter and able to work without direct supervision
• Capable of creating and executing a long-term vision for music & student ministries
• Seek to integrate student ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
• Understanding & desire to live in rural West Texas town of 3000 people

Specific Qualifications:

• Recruit, disciple, and sustain a team of volunteer leaders for both music & students
• Engage student’s parents as vital partners
• Teach and equip students and leaders in small and large settings
• Communicate well with parents and come along side families, especially in times of crisis
• Communicate well with church leaders and members
• Relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today’s culture
• Ability to lead singing & play guitar at minimum but other instruments a bonus
• Appreciation & willingness to use both hymns & modern songs
• Understanding of audio & visual equipment
• Ability to recruit and train other people to help with music

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the music & student ministry is functioning in an effective, focused manner
• Recruit, train, and mobilize a ministry team for the music & student ministries
• Follow through with the volunteer screening process to ensure a competent and qualified body of volunteer adults
• Submit an annual budget to the Finance team & Senior Pastor
• Oversee the expenditures of the budget allocated towards the music & student ministries
• Oversee fund-raising efforts for student ministries trips
• Build relationships with faculty & staff at the middle & high school

Building:

• Develop comprehensive, well-balanced biblical instruction and programming for growth opportunities
• Assume the role as primary teacher and provide teaching opportunities to other qualified volunteers
• Create and oversee a student leadership group
• Develop other singers & musicians to build the music team

Youth Events:

• Lead annual or bi-annual student mission’s trip
• Lead annual or bi-annual student summer camp trip
• Attend as often as possible student events at school (ie. Sports games, music competitions, FFA & 4H competitions, etc.)

Equipping:

• Develop a program designed to equip teens and volunteers to do the work of the ministry
• Provide opportunities for student ministry teams to form
• Provide opportunities for the training and discipling of student leaders

Other Responsibilities:

• Participate in staff meetings
• Keep Senior Pastor informed of potential situations of concern
• Attend meetings as an active member when required
• Demonstrate capacity for special events / retreat planning
• Always be learning and growing through books, articles, podcast & conferences

Miscellaneous:

• Sunday morning platform participation
• General pastoral responsibilities assigned by Senior Pastor
• Be a blessing to the community by volunteering in events and being a familiar face to people

Current Ministries:

• Wednesday nights student ministry
• Sunday morning main service

Salary:

• Salary will be $50-$55K commensurate with training and experience
