Job Description – Youth Minister
POSITION TITLE: Youth Minister
POSITION TYPE: Ministerial Staff
POSITION STATUS: Part-Time (20-28 hours total)
SUPERVISION: Lead Pastor & Personnel Committee
Principal Function: The Youth Minister functions as Associate Pastor in the area of designing and implementing the Youth Ministry.
The Youth minister is to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment through the mission of the local church.
Regular Hours of Ministry:
Monday-Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm
Sunday 9:00am-12:30pm
6:00pm-7:00pm
Wednesday 6:00pm-8:00pm
*The church realizes that ministry happens inside and outside of the walls of the church and regular hours of ministry. Therefore, there is an understood flexibility in the schedule of pastors and ministers. This position may also be a bi-vocational role, and flexibility will be given when forming the weekly work schedule.
*Although there is flexibility, the pastors and ministers are accountable to complete the duties of their position faithfully and to meet the needs of the church to the best of their abilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Professing believer in Jesus Christ; baptized by immersion.
- Demonstrates a Call to Ministry on his life.
- Professing a doctrine aligned with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College graduate or is currently pursuing a degree.
- Has some seminary education or is currently pursuing or has plans to pursue in the future.
General Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Student Ministry
- Implement Wednesday or Sunday Night Strategy (curriculum, format, leaders, etc.).
- Oversee Youth Sunday School (teaching and format).
- Develop and mobilize volunteers to further the outreach of the church through the youth ministry.
- Organize Big Events (MPACT, camp, DNOW, etc.).
- Parent Outreach (parent meetings, regular contacts, visitor contacts).
- Work to develop a strong Campus Outreach (FCA events, extracurricular events, developing school contacts).
- Other Ministry Responsibilities
- Preach as needed.
- Maintain Office Hours and other Ministerial Responsibilities (counseling, church maintenance, etc.).
General Requirements:
- It will be required, as a condition of employment, to undergo a pre-employment background check.
- It will be required, as a condition of employment, to agree to and sign the Moral Integrity document.
- Provide the appropriate ministry functions (pastoral care, worship services, hospital visitation, prospect contacts, and home visitation, as needed.)
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Have a positive, energetic, encouraging spirit.
Skill Sets Preferred:
- Computer @ Technology proficient (i.e. Mac, Office, Canva, Google Suites)
- People Skills – Effective communication with staff, adults, teachers, congregation.
- Printers/Copiers, calculators, laminators, fax machines.
- Technology proficiency.
