We are currently without a Pastor as our last Pastor was called by God to another church in West Texas. We have a rural church setting located about 50 miles east of Dallas near Wills Point and Canton, Texas. We are looking for a Part-Time or Bi-Vocational Pastor as we are not large enough to properly support a Full Time Pastor. Pre- Covid 19, we had an average attendance of approximately 30 for our Sunday School classes and an average attendance of 40 - 45 for our Worship services. Normally, we had the following services : Sunday school classes - Sunday morning @ 10:00 am; Morning Worship service - Sunday morning @ 11:00; Wednesday night Bible Study classes for Adults and classes for Youth/Children at 7:00 pm. We have resumed our Sunday Morning Worship service and our Wednesday night Bible Studies and Prayer meeting. We are preparing to prayerfully resume Sunday school classes in July. We have outreach ministries of: 1st Wednesday Night meals before Wednesday night Bible study classes; 3rd Friday night movies; 5th Saturday monthly fellowships.
Our facilities include the Sanctuary Building, Wadley Fellowship/Educational Building, and Parsonage. All buildings are paid off with no debts on them. The Parsonage is located on the church grounds nextdoor to the Sanctuary. It is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath frame house. The Pastor pay package is being revised at the current time to align with IRS rules and regulations.
Our style of music worship is mainly traditional, but is adding some Contemporary Music to our program as our former Pastor also played the guitar and bass guitar along with the Music worship service. Our church was established in 1878 so we have been here over 140 years. Our congregation is a mix of age groups with some younger couples, older couples, and some younger and older single folks.
We are a member of the Kauf-Van Baptist Association, the SBTC, and the SBC. We participate in the following mission activities: Lottie Moon Foreign Missions; Annie Armstrong North American Missions, and VBS (usually). We held a joint revival last year with a sister church at Turner Baptist Church and had planned to have another service this year in October to be held at Hayden.
Our physical address is 1204 Van Zandt County Road 2128 Wills Point, Texas 75169. We currently have an answering machine on the church phone line, which is checked mostly once a week. I can be contacted by the church e-mail address checked daily at email@example.com or on my personal cell phone at 214-924-3235 (as a last resort, please).
