Leadership Description
Purpose & Objective
The Way, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Tioga, TX, Youth ministries exist to prepare our 6th-12th grade students to be sent out as Fishers for People (Matthew 4:19). We do this by following the Constitution and By-laws of the church set forth by Mr. Carmel Baptist Church Tioga, TX.
Youth Minister Qualifications
- Born again and have a personal testimony of his personal conversion and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
- Have a clear and open calling to serve the Lord in Youth Ministry
- A college degree from a credited college/university
- Theological perspective that is conservative, and adherent to the inerrancy of the whole Word of God
- Effective communicator, verbal, written, and public speaking
- Ability to submit to and implement policies decided by the Church Body
- Demonstrated ability to raise up, disciple, equip and empower lay leaders, thus expanding ministry reach and impact. A leader of leaders
- A general knowledge of the Bible is essential
- Able to plan, organize, and implement/evaluate youth ministry program
- Possess a passions for Evangelism and Outreach, particularly campus ministry in the community schools
- Sensitive to needs and pressures of teen and young adults, with knowledge of possible solutions
- Must be at least 25 years old, with experience serving in youth ministry
- Exhibit proven ability to teach and train youth into a deeply enriching faith experience
Youth Minister Responsibilities:
- Provide overall pastoral care to the youth, encouraging their spiritual growth and
challenging them to grow in their commitment to Christ and His mission
- Be acquainted with personal lives of the young people (either directly or through youth
leaders). For example, visit homes, attend school events, and make hospital visits. This
also includes being aware of current youth development, culture, social media, etc.
- Foster partnerships with parents/guardians, primarily or directly through youth leaders, or by other means of communication
- Maintain a well-planned, carefully balanced program throughout the year coordinated
with the church calendar of events
- With the input and support of the youth leaders, maintain the philosophy of the current youth ministry
- Pre-schedule all activities in their entirety, including post-activity plans. Publish same to
staff, parents, and youth in a timely fashion
- Develop strategies to encourage church-wide participation in youth ministries and
activities
- Ensure regular interaction with Leadership Team for mutual accountability
- Expected to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church
leadership in all areas concerning youth ministry
- Make and maintain positive relationships with leaders in the community,
especially those leaders of our schools and other youth organizations
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis
- Prepare, monitor and control the annual youth budget as approved by the church.
- Manage student fees and fund raising money for events and ministry/mission
trips
- Take part in business meetings
- Work with deacons and committees as needed
- Other duties as required and requested by the Pastor
- Plan and coordinate youth events
- Wednesday nights (school calendar year)
- Sunday School
- Falls Creek Easter Retreat
- Falls Creek Summer Camp
- Occasional fun events
- Fundraisers (5th Sunday Breakfast, Bingo night, etc.)
- Ensure responsibilities for all events are delegated and understood by youth leaders
