First Friends Preschool Overview:

First Friends Preschool (FF) functions as a ministry of First Baptist Church (FBC) of Prosper, TX and shares its location with FBC Prosper at 601 S. Church St., Prosper, TX 75078. First Friends exists to serve the local community with a commitment to providing quality early childhood education within a nurturing Christian environment. First Friends’ mission is to cultivate the holistic development of young children, fostering their intellectual, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Operating Monday to Thursday from August to May of each year, First Friends Preschool currently consists of 180 students, with classes for 2’s, 3’s, PreK (4’s), and TK (Transitional Kindergarten).

Grounded in Biblical teaching and Christian principles, our preschool endeavors to instill the gospel into the minds and hearts of children along with the values of compassion, kindness, and respect while preparing them for lifelong learning and service to others. Through engaging curriculum, supportive relationships, and intentional programming, First Friends strives to create a safe and stimulating educational setting where each child is valued, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential. By partnering with families in the community, we aim to nurture the whole child and lay a strong foundation for future success in preschool and beyond.

First Friends Director Job Summary:

The FF Director plays a pivotal role in providing leadership and direction to ensure the smooth operation and success of the preschool. This position oversees all aspects of the preschool's programs, staff, and operations, with a primary focus on creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching Christian environment for children to learn and grow. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a high-quality educational program and curriculum that align with best practices in early childhood education and aiding in educating children for the glory of God.

The FF Director is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff to ensure they are equipped to provide exceptional care and education to students. Compliance with state and local regulatory requirements and licensing standards is paramount, and the FF Director ensures that all policies and procedures are followed. In addition to administrative duties, the FF Director fosters positive relationships with parents, students, and staff, serving as a point of contact for inquiries, feedback, and concerns. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to lead and motivate a team toward the church and preschool's common goals.

The ideal candidate will preferably possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, along with previous experience in a leadership role in a preschool or childcare setting. Knowledge of child development principles, curriculum development, and regulatory requirements is critical. Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are necessary to manage day-to-day operations effectively. The FF Director plays a key role in shaping the future of young learners, making a positive impact on their development, and preparing them for success in school and life.

First Friends Director Responsibilities:

Leadership and Administration:

• Provide leadership by being capable of seamlessly transitioning into any role (Assistant Director, Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Floater, etc.) as needed.

• Support and train all staff as required.

• Ensure compliance with state and local regulatory requirements and licensing standards.

• Report directly to the Senior Pastor of FBC.

• Attend weekly FBC all-staff meetings.

• Foster collaboration and coordination with FBC Pastor(s) and staff as needed or requested.

• Coordinate FF chapel activities and facility use in collaboration with FBC staff.

• Manage maintenance and repairs in coordination with FBC staff.

• Demonstrate respect and adherence to FBC policies, procedures, and operational practices such as:

- Consulting appropriate parties regarding facility-related matters.

 -Arranging reservations for rooms beyond dedicated FF spaces.

- Obtaining proper approval to modify room configurations.

• Prepare financial reports for the Senior Pastor, Elders, and Finance Team of FBC.

• Develop and maintain the budget for the school year in collaboration with the Senior Pastor, Elders, and Finance Team of FBC.

• Oversee all outbound communication for:

-Monthly newsletters and/or weekly correspondence 

-Social media networks

-Responses to inbound parent emails, where appropriate

• Walk the campus daily for visibility, to ensure compliance, and to be available to support teachers.

• Oversee all HR responsibilities, including but not limited to:

-Supervising all staff. 

-Ensuring coverage for all classes.

-Recruiting and retaining staff in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.

-Managing staff terminations as necessary. 

-Providing training for all employees.

-Maintaining Director's license/certification.

-Reviewing and updating the FF Handbook annually with Senior Pastor.

-Staying updated on all Texas Health and Human Services policy changes annually and ensuring compliance with these changes.

 

Program Development and Implementation:

• Develop and implement Biblically-based goals for children.

• Develop and implement Biblically-based educational programs and curriculum.

• Develop and implement strategies for parent engagement.

• Design program plans, including:

-Schedules.

-Curriculum.

-Assessments.

• Create behavioral plans for children as needed.

• Assign class placements for students.

Safety and Equipment Maintenance:

• Ensure the safety of all FBC/FF equipment and supplies.

• Design, develop, and implement all safety drills.

Community and Relationship Building:

• Establish and nurture positive relationships with parents, students, and staff.

First Friends Director Qualifications and Skills:

• As an FBC staff member overseeing a ministry department of FBC Prosper, the FF Director and their family must become actively participating members of FBC Prosper.

• FF Director must possess a passion to shepherd teachers and children.

• FF Director must be a proficient self-starter and team player with the ability to incorporate the overall vision of the Elders while also creatively initiating and accomplishing personal vision specific for children’s ministry.

• FF Director must effectively demonstrate the ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality when working with others.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. • Previous experience in a leadership role in a preschool, school, or childcare setting.

• Accredited with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Childcare Licensing Division as a qualifying Director as stated in the Texas code 26 TAC 746.1015(1). This certification must be completed within 90 days of hire into this position.

• Comprehensive understanding of Smart Care, Word, and Excel preferred.

• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to lead and motivate a team.

• Organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with relevant regulations and licensing requirements for preschools in Texas.

First Friends Director Compensation and Work Schedule: The compensation for the Director of FF is open for discussion and will be determined based on qualifications. This is a full-time salaried position requiring work 12 months of the year. The Director role is primarily a four-day-a-week position, a commitment that is required ten months of the year with fewer hours required during the summer months. Please note that First Friends presently works in conjunction with the Prosper ISD calendar. FBC Prosper anticipates that the First Friends ministry will experience special events during the school year requiring performance of duties beyond these times and as deemed necessary in conjunction with the essential functions of the Director position.

These Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), along with the job description above, are provided to the FF Director at the start of each school year so the Director is aware of what will be reviewed. The KPIs will be the basis of the Director evaluation each year. • Student enrollment and retention rates.

• Special needs accommodation and inclusivity.

• Parental engagement and communication.

• Staff-to-child ratio compliance.

• Marketing and brand positioning.

• Long-term strategic planning and growth.

These KPIs cover a broad area, which ensures a thorough evaluation of a preschool's quality and success, both of which are directly related to the Director's performance.
