Qualifications
The Pastor should be someone who feels God’s unmistakable call on his life to the pastoral ministry of the Church. He should hold an unwavering belief in the authority, inerrancy, and infallibility of all 66 books of the protestant canonical Bible. The qualifications of a pastor are laid out by scripture in 1 Timothy chapter 3, and Titus chapter 1. A pastor is to be above reproach, the devoted husband of one wife, sober minded, disciplined, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach and give instruction, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not arrogant, not quick-tempered, not a lover of money, manages his own household well, his children are submissive and not insubordinate, not a recent convert, has a good reputation in the community, and is a lover of goodness, uprightness, and holiness.
Objectives
The pastor will lead the Church to function as a New Testament Church. Under the direct authority of Jesus Christ, he will work with the leadership team, deacons, and church staff to: 1) Lead the Church in the achievement of its mission, 2) proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, and 3) care for the Church’s members and other persons in the community. He will lead the congregation and the church staff to perform the duties and functions of the Church as outlined in scripture. Additionally, he will provide administrative leadership for the church.

Key Job Accountabilities
- Proclaim the gospel to the church and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the community
- Preside as moderator in all business meetings
- Fulfill the role of spiritual leader and overseer of the church congregation
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees and meetings in the church and regarding the church.
- Hold regular office hours during which he will be available to the congregation and the community
- Serve the congregation and the community outside of the office in whatever ways are needed
- Lead or delegate the leadership of the congregational services.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate congregational services.
- Preach at all worship services or arrange for someone to perform this function.
- Recommend and advise the appropriate team in the selection of all staff members and the determination of their duties
- Supervise all church staff and perform employee evaluations each year
- Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the Church ordinances
- Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies as he is able
- Counsel with and assist in training deacons for their responsibilities.
- Always greet members and visitors in a pleasant and cordial manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Under the authority of the Triune Godhead
- Supervises all church staff
- Supervises all committees and teams
Education / Certifications / Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent required, seminary education preferred
- Must be a licensed Southern Baptist Minister; open to ordination once installed as Pastor
Work Experience
- None required; however previous ministerial experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A firm and growing understanding of the Bible, and the ability to “rightly handle the Word of Truth” (2 Timothy 2:15)
- Must possess leadership skills and emotional and spiritual maturity
- Have strong communication skills
- A developed sense of empathy and compassion that manifests itself in love and patience for the congregation and fellow church staff
- Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem solve in challenging situations
Physical Demands
The position requires the pastor to work both inside and outside in cold, or hot and humid conditions. It also requires the ability to speak out loud for up to 60 minutes or longer at a time. The position also requires walking up and down stairs.
Additional Requirements
- The Pastor’s attire must reflect the dignity of his position and he must adhere to professional standards for personal grooming and appearance
- Must pass a criminal background and sex-offender check pre-hire and annually thereafter
- This position requires travel, sometimes over long distances, and occasional overnight stays
