Job Summary:

The Children’s Director is a part-time position and is under the supervision of the Personnel Committee and Pastor of First Baptist Church Dorchester. The Director will build safe, fun and educational environments for children while connecting with parents to foster an environment of collaboration and communication.

Qualifications:

  1. The Children’s Director must meet the following minimum requirements:
    Christian of good character and ethical conduct.
  2. A Growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord.
    Has a joyful passion and vision for children and their families
    Be able to communicate, plan, delegate, organize and lead effectively
  3. Promote and support the ministry Mission and Goals of First Baptist Church Dorchester
    A member of FBC Dorchester (once hired)
  4. High School diploma or equivalent
  5. 2 years Children’s ministry leadership (preferred)

 Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of children’s ministries, preschool thru sixth
    grade, including VBS and Children’s Camp.
  2. Assist with recruiting, train and evaluate teachers and workers in children’s
    ministries.
  3. Coordinate communication with teachers, helpers and the entire congregation.
  4. Provide leadership, supervision and evaluation for teachers and workers.
  5. Schedule teachers and workers for their various responsibilities.
  6. Be able to teach and lead as needed.
  7. Choose curriculum that aligns with FBC Dorchester doctrine beliefs.
  8. Assure that curriculum materials, equipment, and other supplies are available for
    volunteers.
  9. Oversee, plan and organize family events.
  10. Lead teacher meetings to increase the communication and problem solve
    any concerns.
  11. Work with Pastor or church personnel on safety and protection policies and procedures to ensure
    a safe environment is provided for children.
  12. Build positive relationship with parents.
  13. Develop ways to receive input and evaluation from parents, teachers, and other
    church leaders regarding children’s ministry.
  14. Assist the pastors with the Outreach ministry as it relates to children and parents, as
    assigned and agreed upon.
  15. Attend any required staff meetings.
  16. Provide a monthly Children’s Ministry report to the Pastor.
  17. Attend the quarterly church meeting and provide a Children’s Ministry report.
  18. Submit any annual budget requests to the Finance Committee for church approval.
  19. Be responsible to ensure that the Child Protection Policies are strictly followed.

Mandatory Hours:                                                                   

Wednesday: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm (3 hours)

Sunday: 9:15 am – 12:15 pm (3 hours)
