JOB DESCRIPTION - MINISTRY INTERNSHIP

To serve LCBC by ministering to both individuals and groups as they are invited to a deeper and more knowledgeable relationship with Jesus. To gain a fuller understanding of ministry within the context of church life.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Participate in different aspects of ministry, including, but not limited to:
    • Volunteer and serve in the Youth, Children’s, Worship, Pastoral or Outreach ministry of LCBC
    • mentoring, discipling, teaching, forming curriculum, creating events, leading a group, connecting with individuals, and improving volunteer procedures
    • Lead and/or teach in various settings dependent on call and gifting (small groups, Sunday service, ministry teams, mission teams, etc.)
    • Assist in ministry development. Examples include recruiting volunteers, managing programs, and/or working alongside LCBC staff and volunteer teams
    • Office and administrative work
    • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Attend all applicable leadership meetings
  • Attend Sunday services.
  • Programming and attendance at all scheduled events
  • Attend LCBC staff meetings (every other month on Sunday afternoon/evening)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • An interest to explore local church ministry
  • Working towards completion of a continuing education degree
  • Profess agreement with LCBC’s doctrinal statement
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

OTHER INFORMATION

Intern expectations

  • A full-time intern can expect to work no more than 8 hours per week on average. (Special events may exceed that amount).
  • Prior to, during, and after this experience, interns are expected to maintain a lifestyle of spiritual growth, including prayer, generosity, service, small group accountability, and a mentor relationship.

LCBC commitment to interns

  • Interns will be given a place to safely explore their calling while being immersed in local church ministry.
  • Interns will be mentored and developed as leaders.
  • Interns will be given a stipend of $2,000 per calendar year (broken up into semesters to match education calendar).

SPECIFICATIONS

8 hours per week
Stipend amount $2000 annually ($1,000 per semester). Summer Internships possible ($500)
