Student Pastor
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Status: Full Time, Exempt, 40+ hrs per week.
Location: First Baptist Church Borger, Texas
Job Overview:
The Youth Pastor will lead and oversee the spiritual development, discipleship, and engagement of students in grades 7–12 and their families. The Youth Pastor will create a welcoming and Christ-centered environment that fosters growth in faith, Biblical understanding, and spiritual maturity. This role also includes supporting the families of the youth by providing resources and guidance to help them lead their children in their spiritual journey. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth ministry, a heart for discipleship, and a commitment to the mission of the local church.
Biblical Qualifications
The Student Pastor lives out their calling by upholding the biblical qualifications of a pastor. 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus1:5–9.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vision and Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for youth ministry that aligns with the church's mission and vision.
- Lead the planning and execution of weekly youth group meetings, Bible studies, worship gatherings, and special events.
- Build a leadership team of volunteers to assist in the ministry, equipping and training them for effective service.
- Discipleship and Teaching:
- Teach and disciple students with sound, biblically-based instruction in creative and engaging ways.
- Foster spiritual growth by mentoring students, providing counseling, and walking with them through life’s challenges.
- Encourage students to develop their personal relationship with Christ through Bible study, prayer, and active participation in the church community.
- Family Ministry and Support:
- Partner with parents and guardians, providing resources, support, and encouragement to help them lead their children in faith.
- Organize family-focused events to build relationships and strengthen the family unit.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding upcoming events, teaching topics, and opportunities for family involvement.
- Outreach and Evangelism:
- Lead and inspire students to live out the gospel in their schools, activities, and daily lives.
- Develop outreach opportunities such as mission trips, service projects, and evangelism training to impact the community.
- Create a welcoming environment where unchurched youth feel comfortable and can explore the Christian faith.
- Administration and Communication:
- Manage the youth ministry budget and ensure stewardship of resources.
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and the church through various platforms (social media, newsletters, etc.).
- Attend staff meetings and participate in the overall mission and vision of the church.
- Collaboration and Church Involvement: - As we teach our core values to our church members and community, we live them out personally.
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure the youth ministry integrates with the overall church life.
- Encourage students to actively participate in other church ministries, such as worship, outreach, and small groups.
- Be involved in the life of the church, modeling a life of integrity, service, involvement, generosity, and leadership.
Requirements:
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for youth growing in their faith.
- A bachelor’s degree with biblical training is preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in youth ministry is preferred.
- Biblical knowledge and understanding of the gospel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families.
- Leadership skills to mentor and develop youth and volunteers.
Compensation:
$45-55K based on experience and qualifications.
Teaching Ministry:
The church's teaching ministry is the responsibility of all ministerial staff members under the direction of the Lead Pastor and the Elders. Together, we uphold biblical doctrines and theology across each ministry area.
