Youth Pastor Job Description

Job Summary: The Youth Pastor role will be responsible to shepherd the Fellowship Baptist Church student ministry (grades 6-12 and collegiate age adults) and their families. Opportunities to grow and serve in other areas of ministry will be available based on the candidate’s gifting, experience, and strengths.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of a growing personal relationship with Jesus and a heart dedicated toward serving Him and His Church.
• A call to vocational Christian service with a particular desire to reach and disciple students.
• Character and competencies of an elder/overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Professional training for pastoral ministry in a local church, preference for Student Ministry or Biblical Studies.
• An ability to recruit, equip, and lead others to serve in ministry.
• An ability to work positively with people with differing backgrounds and personalities.

Ministry Responsibilities:

• Oversee and provide leadership to all aspects of student ministry encompassing 6-12^th grade students and their parents.
• Provide Biblically sound and applicable-to-life teaching in both large and small group contexts.
• Coordinate summer camps, retreats, and mission trip opportunities.
• Recruit and equip volunteers to assist and lead in the work of student ministry.
• Encourage and equip parents to facilitate personal family ministry and discipleship.
• Actively disciple students to own, live, and share their faith while equipping ministry leaders to do the same.
• Prepare and administer the appropriate ministry calendars and budgets.
• Connect and build relationships with students, parents, and ministry leaders.
• Develop and monitor the adequate policies and procedures that are in place to protect students, volunteers, leaders, and church.
• Develop and implement a ministry action plan targeting collegiate age adults.
• Oversee, coordinate, and strategically plan ministries to disciple adults including but not limited to Sunday morning Bible classes, ministries to men and women, and community home groups.
• Develop a strategic plan mobilizing congregation to engage, serve, and reach local and global communities and cities with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
