Summary: The main job of the Youth Pastor is to be a lead disciple maker in the church, particularly with the youth. In the disciple making process, the youth ministry should maintain vital connection to and promote the life and mission of the church body as a whole.
General Statement: He shall be a born-again believer, called of God into Christian Ministry. He shall know and teach Biblical Doctrine and be in harmonious agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message (SBC Confession of Faith).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: this position is to oversee, maintain and train leaders in the discipleship process by performing pastoral duties, partnering with parents, discipling leaders, strategic planning and vision casting. and administrative reporting. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilites: Directly supervises Youth Ministry. Supervisory resonsiblities include: training leaders, planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and guiding leaders; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Accountable to: Shadycrest Baptist Church through the Personnel Committee
Reports to: Pastor or, in his absence, other specified minister on the staff
Supervises: All volunteer workers in the student ministries
Education, Experience, Credentials: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) preferred or one to two- years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (as determined by youth pastor search team and Pastoral staff). A calling to the gospel ministry must be identifiable and testified to by his personal references.
