Job Description: Full-Time Youth Pastor/Director

Memorial Baptist Church, located in Killeen, Texas, is in search of a new full-time Youth Director Pastor.

About Memorial:

Memorial is a growing multi-generational and multi-ethnic church of 500+ people located in Central Texas (about halfway between Austin and Waco).  We are seeking someone who lives within a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and who maintains a daily lifestyle that serves as a role model for youth.  They should be active in the community, highly relational and invest in young people through evangelism and discipleship.  

Responsibilities:

• Perform role in harmony with Memorial Baptist Church Statement of Faith, Core Values, and disciple-making strategy. 

• Provide leadership to encourage youth, parents, and volunteers to participate in the overall ministry of the Church. 

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive youth ministry strategy, emphasizing outreach, that is impactful and relevant to meeting the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of youth. 

• Create, plan and implement events, trips and retreats outside of weekly routine schedules. 

• Continually survey and assess the needs of teens and maintain an active dialogue with the Pastor, Executive Pastor and parents in how to meet those needs. Be attuned and knowledgeable of trends. 

• Proactively communicate with teens, parents, and the Church congregation; effectively doing so is paramount to the success of the youth ministry and Church.
• Mentor youth in developing their leadership skills and peer-to-peer affirmation of faith. 

• Engage with youth beyond standard programs: times of crisis, extracurricular activities, and visitation. Be available for impromptu ministry. 

• Submit and administer the youth ministry budget in accordance with Church Finance Committee policies; seek optimum impact while exhibiting good stewardship and frugality. 

• Plan, organize and lead in the training of youth workers in a comprehensive program that promotes spiritual growth and disciple making of teens. 

• Actively recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Ensure adequate adult to youth ratios.

Qualifications:

• Must live within a vibrant and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and maintain a daily lifestyle that serves as a role model for youth. 

• Exhibit a passion for leading and caring for youth so as to mold and develop young Christians for a life of faith and service. 

• Demonstrate the gift and experience in teaching ability. 

• Possess a minimum of three years’ experience in teen-related Christian ministry. 

• Possess at minimum, an Associate Degree in a field conducive to youth ministry; Bachelor Degree in Christian education preferred. 

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to recognize the importance of when to engage with others, whether in church-wide communication or one-on-one dialogue. Capable of using all forms of media as appropriate. 

• Exhibit natural leadership abilities combined with organizational planning, team building, problem solving, and conflict management skill-sets. Capable of performing role with minimal guidance or supervision. 

• Possess basic computer software skills in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and able to manage web-based learning systems. Social media knowledge and proficiency is desired.
