General Overview of Position:
The Worship Pastor's primary responsibility is to assist the Lead Pastor in the worship ministries of the church. This person must be skilled in the area of band leadership and have a strong desire to mentor and train young worship leaders. The Worship Pastor's secondary role is to lead in areas that directly relate to all creative elements of the church. This person must have a heart for creativity and the ability to carry out the look and feel of the church. Creating environments (audit, visiual, design, etc...) that facilitate worshipful expereinces and engaging environments are part of this role. This position also helps provide leadership to all aspects of the church that lead the congregation to encounter God in a creative, relevant manner consistent with the stated purpose, vision and strategy of the church.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- A graduate degree in music or worship from a recognized college or seminary is preffered.
- This pastor must have received appropriate formal training or posess an equivalent level of experience and skill for this position.
- Ability to lead a band for worship.
- Ability to lead congregational worship.
- Ability to develop, communicate and produce a well-articulated visiton in worship and performing arts.
- Gifted in created arts aspects of worship (instrumental, voice, drama, production, sound, lighting and technical support).
- Ability to incorporate all artistic expressions in the context of worship.
- Ability to provide direction and leadership in the area of AV components, environmental design including budgets for each area.
- Ability to work with people, build teams, initiate tasks and delegate responsibility.
- Possess strong interpersonal relational skills and positive conflict resolution abilities.
- The pastor must have a sense of Call to this ministry.
- The positions requires a person that tithes.
Typical Duties:
- Recruit volunteers for worship and media ministries
Worship
- In conjuction with the Communications Team and Lead Pastor develop and implement worship experiences for Sunday mornings.
- Develop chord charts and music for all worship services
- Helps plan and determine all programming elements for speical events and seasonal productions.
- Rehearse and develop a schedule for all band persons involved in each worship experience.
- Lead the Youth praise team and worship services, as well as, mentoring and training young adult worship leaders.
- Provide music for retreats, camps, and vacation bible school events as needed.
- Responsible for overseeing sanctuary acoustics, lighting, sound, stage design and decoration.
Environment
- Lead the creation and implementation of the church's environment working with Lead Pastor, Ministry Staff, and Executive Pastor.
General
- Recruit, train & supervise all worship and media personnel and volunteers.
- Provide assistance and counsel when neede or requested for special events such as weddings, funerals, and banquets.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Basic Personal Responsibilities:
- Maintain church memebership with Lake Church.
- Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committeed Bible study, prayer and meditation.
- Maintan proper priorities in your home and be a spiritual influence on your spouse and children, if married.
- Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
- Financially support the work of ministires of Lake Church by faithfully giving at least 10% of your gross income a a tithe offering. Maintain wise stewardship measures over the reamining 90%
