Duration and Time Commitment:

  • 10-15 hours/week, Minister to Families, a fully functioning member of the Church Staff.

Purpose:

We are looking for a Minister to lead in providing discipleship and support to the families of our congregation. We strongly believe that God has given parents the responsibility of “Primary Faith-givers” to their children. The ideal candidate will work alongside parents, grandparents, and families; designing and implementing programs/activities that strengthen the spiritual walks of the entire family. Our Family Ministry aims to equip parents and grandparents to teach children and youth about God. 

Qualifications:

  • Have a vibrant and growing relationship with Christ and a passion for equipping others for the work of ministry.
  • Be teachable, humble, and have a servant’s heart.
  • Be an example to others in Christian character and integrity.
  • Be a self-starter as well as a team player.
  • Possess gifts for ministry, such as teaching, leadership, compassion, administration, or music.
  • Some College, Bible College, or Seminary is preferred. Experience will be considered in the absence of formal education. 

Job Description:

  • Lead efforts to minister to the parenting and family needs of the church body.
  • Collaborating with other staff and leaders to provide a comprehensive ministry for the whole church. 
  • Regularly focus families on Missions including short-term mission experiences, missionary engagement, service projects, etc.
  • Reach out to unchurched families in the community, engage them with the gospel, and involve them in the work of the church.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor to ensure the Bible teaching/Discipleship calendar for the church considers the spiritual needs of the Families in our community.
  • Oversee all programming for Youth Ministry throughout the church including Sunday School, Wednesday Nights, Retreats, Summer Camp, etc.
    • With the Family Committee, establish a long-term vision for how the church engages youth and their parents.
    • Establish and maintain a system of security that protects Youth in our church’s care.
    • Recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers in the Youth Ministry.
    • In consultation with other Youth Ministry leaders and the Stewardship Committee, develop an annual budget for the youth ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget.
    • Regularly report to the church’s leadership about developments in the youth ministry.
    • Work with other church leaders to find ministry opportunities for youth in the broader church family.
  • Oversee all programming for Kids' Ministry throughout the church including Sunday School, Wednesday Nights, Vacation Bible School, fall festivals, etc.
    • With the Family Committee, establish a long-term vision for how the church engages kids and their parents.
    • Establish and maintain a system of security that protects kids in our church’s care.
    • Recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers in the  Kids' Ministry.
    • In consultation with Kids' Ministry leaders and the Stewardship Committee, develop an annual budget for the Kids' Ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget.
    • Regularly report to the church’s leadership about developments in the Kids' ministry.
  • Ask questions, be creative, offer and implement your ideas, seek servant-leadership opportunities, take risks, learn, and see God work through you to make an impact on others.

Requirements:

  • Attend all church-wide services and activities as a valued church member. 
  • Participate in Worship Services/activities by planning, leading, speaking, and serving. 
  • Participate in all staff meetings and planning.
  • Be the Family Ministry Committee's staff representative, regularly meeting for mentoring and planning.
  • Update the Church Website and social media pages with Family Ministry information and happenings. 

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary will be negotiable according to the best possible outcome for the candidate and the church. 
  • Salary will be monthly, contract-based; Time off for holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc.) and personal reasons (vacation, illnesses, development, etc.) and agreed upon in advance with all church leadership.
