Travel Required: Yes (<10% travel may be required for special events)
Position Summary
The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, preparing, and leading weekly worship services at Journey of Faith Church. This person will play a pivotal role in cultivating a worship culture embodying our mission statement to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to our communities and to the ends of the earth as we equip to raise strong next generation disciples. The Worship Leader must have a clear testimony of a life that trusts and believes in Jesus Christ.
Position Responsibilities
SUNDAY SERVICES
Prayerfully plan the corporate worship services at Journey of Faith under consultation and guidance of the senior pastor to strive for a theologically sound and musically appropriate worship experience for the congregation.
Conduct weekly rehearsals and ensure all technical aspects of worship, including audio and visual media, support the spiritual direction for each gathering.
Communicate song selection, practice schedule and worship roster weekly.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Provide general spiritual leadership to all the worship team members.
Recruit new volunteers and regularly train existing volunteers to pursue spiritual and musical excellence.
Manage a rotating schedule for musicians, vocalists, and the media team.
Facilitate worship team gatherings throughout the year for volunteer appreciation and self-assessment purposes.
Provide mentorship and spiritual care through strong relationship building.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Propose and manage the annual worship department budget.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Ensure the maintenance, functionality, and upkeep of all worship equipment.
Organize worship resources such as ProPresenter, SongSelect, chord charts, sheet music, educational material, and media files.
OTHER
Seek to make connections with members beyond the worship stage, and support the vision, mission, and pastoral leadership of the church.
Availability to provide musical support for special events for JoF as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor and/or Deacon Board.
Education and Experience
Minimum of High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Can proficiently play an instrument in the worship band (ex: keyboard, guitar)
Quality singing voice and engaging stage presence
Ability to direct lead and teach vocal parts
Team player with good relational skills and a positive attitude.
Self-starter who strives for quality.
Ability to energetically stand in front of the congregation and lead a minimum of 15-25 mins of consecutive worship.
Ability to conduct one to two hour rehearsals weekly.
