Purpose:
This position is responsible for leading Harvey Baptist's children's ministry from birth to 6th grade. This person is responsible for ensuring a smoothly operating, safe, and effective ministry. The Children’s Minister is to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment through the mission of the local church.
General Responsibilities:
Oversee all areas of the Children's Ministry. Identify, invite, train, and empower leaders to be a part of the Children’s Ministry. Oversee all paid staff and volunteers in the Children’s Ministry. Serve as a primary Children’s leader and communicator for the church. Invest in the lives of children and their parents by building relationships with them in the most effective way possible. Oversee weekly services, events, or classes with the help of your team of volunteers and staff. Meet with key staff and volunteers on a regular basis to evaluate Children’s Ministry's health and effectiveness.
Specific Responsibilities:
The Children’s Minister is responsible for the following:
- In charge of overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the children’s ministry.
- Maintaining the Ministry Safe database with all volunteers birth-6th grade.
- Responsible for building a team of volunteers by interviewing and screening church members before placing them in ministry.
- Be available to counsel and pray with children dealing with spiritual questions and decisions.
- Organize meetings for all children’s ministry volunteers.
- Organize classrooms and make sure that they are safe and properly cleaned.
- Select an age-appropriate and Gospel-centered curriculum.
- Oversee and manage all children’s activities.
- Manage the nursery: babies and toddlers, ages 6 weeks to 2 years old.
- Hire nursery workers and manage scheduling and meetings.
- Oversee and organize volunteers for Awana Club: ages 3 through 6th grade.
- Oversee Children’s Church and Sunday Small Groups: ages 3 through 6th grade.
- Plan, organize, and direct Vacation Bible School.
- Plan, organize, and sponsor Kids’ Summer Camp.
