Purpose:  The Pastor of Students and Music is responsible for, in coordination with the Lead Pastor, designing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of the Student Ministry and Worship Ministry focusing on making disciples who make disciples.
 
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: The Pastor of Students and Music must be confident in his call to vocational ministry. He must have a love for Christ, a heart for shepherding, a strong theological foundation for his ministry, and lead his family to be committed to the life and health of Ector Baptist Church. Must meet the biblical qualifications for overseer found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must meet the biblical qualifications for overseer found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Must be a male and, if married, his relationship with his wife must exemplify Christlikeness.
  • Must possess and demonstrate ability to preach and teach, relate to and mentor people of various age groups, oversee various ministries, and equip others for ministry.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision and must be able to balance work and home life.
  • Must wholeheartedly affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
  • Must be able to work well with Pastors, Deacons, Staff, Members, and outside organizations.
  • Must possess abilities to lead music in a wide range of styles including traditional hymns and contemporary congregational music.
  • Must possess ability to lead worship and to train others as individual and team worship leaders.
  • Must become a member of Ector Baptist Church. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree is desired but not required.
  • Experience: Related ministry experience is desired but not required.
  • Minimum of 20 hours a week, plus other activities such camp, other youth events, and music ministry activities.  


RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Pastoral Ministry

  • Provide pastoral assistance to the Lead Pastor and other pastors in caring for the members of Ector Baptist Church by praying for, visiting, and calling church members regularly, especially those connected to youth and music ministry.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor and other pastors in the general oversight of all ministries of the church.
  • Participate in preaching and teaching opportunities. Fill the pulpit in Lead Pastor’s absence. 
  • Pray regularly for the health of the church.


2. Youth Ministry

  • Shepherd and disciple, the students, and families of the Youth Ministry (grades 7-12).
  • Provide Gospel-Centered and Expositional teaching to the Student Ministry.
  • Support youth in their school setting by being involved in the school to any degree that the school permits. This would include, attending school lunches, attending sporting and other school events, coordinating with the school to be involved with See You at the Pole, FCA, and other events/organizations.
  • Develop an intentional evangelistic outreach ministry to students in our community.
  • Enlist, equip, and train individuals for service in the Youth Ministry.
  • Oversee an annual youth calendar, focusing on integrating students into the life of the church. Plan and coordinate outside church activities (e.g. Church Camp, Dnow, Ranger’s Game, Six Flags, etc.)
  • Work with area Student Pastors to plan and coordinate events with other churches.
  • Prepare and submit the Youth Ministry annual budget to the Finance Committee.
  • Pray regularly for the Youth Ministry.


3. Music Ministry

  • Shepherd the entire congregation through music that is biblically truthful. 
  • Oversee the planning and preparing for corporate worship services.
  • Incorporate both traditional and congregational contemporary music styles into worship services. (Style similar to Matt Boswell, Matt Papa, Sovereign Grace Music, Shane and Shane, Getty Music) 
  • Lead congregational singing or ensure volunteer leaders are equipped and prepared to lead.
  • Coordinate Special Music (Solo’s, Instrumental’s, etc.).
  • Enlist, equip, and train individuals for service in the Music Ministry, including Praise Team, and Choir.
  • Supervise maintenance and procurement of music equipment including A/V equipment, instruments, sound boards, computers, projection equipment, supplies and more.
  • Prepare and submit the Music Ministry and Audio/Visual annual budget to the Finance Committee.
  • Pray regularly for the Music Ministry.
