Senior Pastor Applicants,
We here at Calvary Baptist Church of Aransas Pass TX are a church family that places great value on biblical preaching, Holy Spirit lead Worship while being engaged in the Great Commission as given by Christ Jesus and laid out for us in Mathew 28:16-20. We have been in the same location since 1971. During that time we have experienced periods of Spiritual and numerical growth and some seasons of numerical decline as well. There were times in the past where we averaged 100-130 on Sunday mornings and 80-100 in Sunday school. When Hurricane Harvey in 2017 we had a dramatic drop in attendance. Then adding to that decline we fell even farther due to the pandemic in 2020. We are now averaging approximately 25-45 on Sunday mornings (and growing) with 10-20 for Sunday school. And 10 -15 on Wednesday eve Bible study. However the Spiritual Morale of Gods people here has never waned! There is an excitement in the air and a fresh breath of expectation for what God has for His body as we search for our new senior pastor.
When attending any service at Calvary Baptist expect to find approximately half of our attendees being in the 20-60 year olds and the others split among the 60 plus and children under 15 years of age. We are a well diverse group of believers which gives a good representation of our community. There are many unchurched singles and families in our community. We here at Calvary Baptist desire that God would use this church family to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We here at Calvary Baptist are a warm and welcoming church Family who are serious about the Great Commission and reaching the unsaved ones in the community and being a place for the born again ones to grow, and reaching the next generations in our community and the neighboring areas as well. Our current Youth program is running approx 20 in attendance and we are looking forward to all that God is doing and going to do through this ministry! We are praying God would use this ministry to prepare and equip our neighborhood youth to be able to recognize and deal with ungodly things they face daily in their lives. And learn that there is a better way to live your life than how the world does.
(We have had a local food pantry ministry for several years , we have put this on hold during this transition period. As we grow in numbers we would like to see this back up and running due to the great need in our community).
We take an active part in our community fair( the Shrimporee) which we use to talk with the community and as a fund raiser.
We place great value in biblical expository Holy Spirit lead preaching and teaching, Spirit lead worship, practical community ministries and support of missions. We are very excited for what God has in-store for us through the leadership of our next senior pastor.
Sincerely yours,
Calvary Baptist Church
