Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and highly relational Student Ministry Director to lead our student ministry (6th - 12th grade) at Grace Community Church. Our Student Ministry or falls under the overall umbrella of Family Ministry and it is our strategy to partner with parents while leveraging dynamic large groups that point to relational small group environments to truly reach and disciple students.

We strive to connect what we do every week, in every family ministry area, with the home. We are looking for a dynamic, and relational Student Ministry Director/Pastor to help us continue to do that, and also help us take our student ministry area to new heights.

Position Summary:

The overall expectation for this role is to create and lead a healthy and growing ministry of middle school and high school students and the volunteers who serve students and their families each week. To organize and lead adult volunteers so that they are well equipped and inspired to lead and serve students while feeling connected to a vibrant team. To partner with parents in ministry to students in every way possible and coordinate all the parts, resources, and people to carry out well–executed and exciting weekend large group experiences that effectively point students back to small group communities led by adult small group leaders.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead out vision, mission, and 5 core values of Grace Community Church
  • Lead Student Ministry under the banner of Family Ministry and the overall Family Ministry strategy
  • Champion the idea of leading small where small group leaders are invested in the lives of every teen: they are present in their lives, create a safe place, partner with parents, make it personal, and move them out.
  • Provide leadership and community for adult volunteers in the student ministry area
  • Organize and assist in leading quarterly training times for your team of leaders
  • Oversee the recruitment, training process, and schedule of weekly volunteers
  • Organize all materials and supplies for Student area
  • Collaborate with the rest of Family Ministry Team to form and maintain effective and essential practices
  • Collaborate with Family Ministry team during weekly meetings
  • Collaborate with Grace Staff Team during regular meetings
  • Organize and champion effective, clear, and consistent small group environments with excellence
  • Organize and champion effective, clear, and consistent large group environments with excellence
  • Form and deliver clear and consistent communication with leaders, parents, and family ministry team
  • Organize and champion effective, clear, and exciting Student activities, Camps and Retreats
  • Strategize and model way to engage students outside the walls of the church
  • Prioritize the implementation and oversight of health and safety procedures

 

Other Functions:

  • Participate in other Family Ministry functions outside of your specific area
  • Assist in the oversight of Family Ministry First Impressions Team
  • Attend regular meetings with Family Pastor
  • Attend regular all staff meetings
  • Potential expansion into Young Adults Ministry leadership in the future

 

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-5 years experience working with students
  • Ministry leadership experience
  • Experience recruiting and leading a group of volunteers
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Must currently or quickly be able and willing to uphold and cast vision, mission and strategy of Grace Community Church and the Family Ministry
  • Must be willing to live out the 5 core values of Grace and adhere to Staff commitments outlined in Staff Handbook
  • Must be available to be in office each day during the week
  • Must be flexible and willing to step out of comfort zone when need be
  • Must be teachable
  • Must be highly organized
