Children Director

Our Mission: Introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith

Principle Function:  The Children Director is responsible for the developing and promoting a deeply relational and highly energetic overall ministry for: infants thru third grade students and their families.

Job Classification: 

This position is an exempt (salaried) and full time position

Working Relationship: 

The Children Director reports to the Executive Pastor with dotted line to the Lead Pastor; and coordinates with all the church staff in planning, scheduling, and directing the preschool thru third grade students, and their families with activities of other ministries of The Ridge Church.

Ministry Functions:

Spiritual Development – Following Jesus/Growing in Faith including prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health and church relationships.

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan to help you grow spiritually, which includes time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a commitment to understanding and growing in God’s Word.
  • Connect and build relationships with others in the context of active participation at The Ridge.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development – Equipping volunteer leaders including volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting.

  • Recruit and train new leaders to build teams.
  • Meet with your volunteer leaders on a regular basis.
  • Model excellence in connecting with and building relationships with kids, in leading gatherings and events.
  • Work with your teams to develop a yearly ministry strategy.

Direct Ministry – Proclaiming and modeling the gospel includes building relationships with children and parents thru gatherings, retreats, camp and mission trips.  

  • Actively engage in building relationships with children and families by going where they are, meeting them as they are, and believing in who they can be.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct gatherings with excellence.
  • Lead a team to implement retreats, camps and mission trips.
  • Support parents in their role through education and training with gatherings.
  • Network with and develop strategic relationships with others in the community, including: principals, pastors, parents.

Ministry Support – Taking care of business includes accounting, administration, communication, data management and strategic planning.

  • Manage finances; plan a budget with stewardship, accountability and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on children, families and leaders.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in your ministry and beyond.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives to reach every kids and review on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and in harmony with gifts, experience and area needs.
