Position type: Ministerial Staff (called Staff position)
Supervision: Lead Pastor, Elders & Personnel Committee
Principal Function: The Pastor of Youth and Discipleship is responsible for the entire Youth ministry (Grades 7-12), and the discipleship program(s) of First Baptist Church of Rio Vista. They are to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commission through these ministries of the local church.
Regular Hours of Ministry:
Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Weekly Office Hours: Monday through Thursday (FBC Rio Vista acknowledges that ministry happens outside the walls of the church building. Therefore the hours of ministry are not expected to only happen in the ofiice. Rather a combination of office work, school visitations, community events, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Professing beliver in Jesus Christ; baptized by immersion
2. Preferably some Bible College/Seminary training.
3. Valid Driver's License
4. Professing a doctrine aligned with the 2000 Baptist Faith Message statement as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention on June 14, 2000.
5. Must meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 & Titus 1:6-9
6. It will be required, as a condition of employment, to undergo a pre-employment background check as well as a nationwide credit check report.
7. It will be required, as a condition of employment, to agree and sign the Moral integrity document.

General Responsibilities
1.Youth
- Implement Wednesday Night Strategy (curriculum, format, leaders, etc)
- Lead Youth Sunday School (teaching and format)
- Organize Big Events (camp. DNOW, mission trip, etc.)
- Parent Outreach (parent meetings, regular contacts, visitor contacts).
- Campus Outreach (FCA events, extracurricular events, developing school contacts).
2. Discipleship Responsibilities
- Develop and lead our church in a gospel-centered discipleship strategy.
- Direct, develop and support all Bible Study groups
- Oversee an effective leadership development process
- Ensure effective attendance records are kept in the church database management system.
- Ensure sound doctrine is maintained in all teaching environments in the church
- Recruit and train teachers for all Bible Study groups
- Ensure all Bible Study groups are well-resourced and supplied
- Work with Children, Students, and Adult Ministry to ensure a cohesive discipleship plan
3. Pastoral Responsibilities
This position is first and foremost a pastoral position. Therefore there are several pastoral duties that this person will be expected to perform.
- Conduct Weddings/funeral
- Provide Biblical counseling
- Attend Staff meetings
- Attend worship services
- Oversee the discipleship & youth ministry budget of the church
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Full-time Minister
2 weeks Paid vacation after having served on staff for 6 months
1 week - youth camp
1 week development and training
Other training, conferences, annual meetings and things of that nature must be approved by the Senior Pastor and or the Personnel Committee.
