Porter First Baptist Church is looking a Youth Minister who will help students encounter God in a personal and powereful daily relationship, to grow up and mature in Christ, and to go serve others while on mission with Christ.  The sucessful canidate must be able to cast vision and secure alignment from students, parents, and volunteers to impact a large community of youth in our area.  They must be able to work with other staff members and ministry volunteers in furthering the mission of Christ in our community. 

Porter First Baptist in located at a strategic intersection in the North Metro Houston Area.  The area is growing rapidly in housing and economic growth.  Located at  the corner of FM 1314 and I-69 one mile south of the Grand Parkway, the church is sitting strategically between the four high schools and four middle schools.  NCISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas. Our youth facilities can accomodate nearly 200 students. 

The passionate and persistent canidate who is willing to stay and build a dynamic youth ministry will have the opportunity to impact hundreds and even thousands of youth and their familes over the years. Porter is a great area to grow a family, and the Houston area has many recreational, athletic, cutural, entainment, and dinning opportunites.

I.      POSITION PURPOSE:

 

The Minister to Students is responsible for ministering the students in 6th – 12th grades and their families.  He is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, be an experienced teacher/preacher, engage in evangelism, and provide leadership to Jr. and High School teachers, volunteers, and support staff.

 

II.     RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and implement a comprehensive and aggressive program for students in 6th – 12th grades and their families

·        Plan a calendar of activities, events, and programs that reflects the church’s overall mission statement of “Encounter God, Grow in Maturity, Go Serve Others”.

·        Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise teachers and volunteers to work and participate in activities, events, and programs relating to the Youth Ministry.

·        Supervise, train, and lead all Youth Ministry support staff.  This includes interns, worship leaders, and ministry assistant.

·        Meet regularly with the entire Student Ministry staff to review and evaluate the overall Student Ministry activities, events, and programs.  Assist in developing in overall Student Ministry program.

·        Meet weekly with the church staff to review and evaluate all church activities, events, and programs.  Clearly communicate Youth Ministry goals for the students and families.

·        Develop an ongoing presence/relationship on the school campuses though regular visits to school lunches, games, concerts, activities, etc.

·        Develop relationships with students and their families within the Youth Ministry that will strengthen and grow their relationship with Christ.

Participate in outreach ministries opportunities of the church

·        Share the gospel weekly with lost students and lost parents of students, individually and corporately.

·        Follow up on all youth who visited the previous week. 

·        Equip students and student leaders to share the gospel.

·        Lead the students to develop a missional mindset.

·        Make hospital and pastoral care visits as needed to youth and or youth families.

Participate in Associational, State, and National Southern Baptist entities.

·    Maintain a good working relationship with associational, state, and national Southern Baptist entities.

Other duties as assigned

·        Help as needed with special projects and campaigns.

·        Support the Senor Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s mission for the glory of God.

 

 

III.    QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

The Minister to Students should be a man of Christ-like character and above reproach in conduct, able to preach and teach, gifted to lead with a servant’s heart, passionate about reaching and discipling teenagers, and able to work with well with others.

(1Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-3; Malachi 3:10). 

 

IV.    SKILLS AND BACKGROUND: 

 

Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.  At least 2 years experience as a youth minister is desired.
