Director of Operations - First Baptist Church of Lakeside

The Director of Operations is charged with implementing and overseeing effective systems for using, maintaining and supporting the church’s resources.  He or she will ensure staffing, facilities and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet our strategic goals. The Director of Operations will serve under and report directly to the Pastor.  This position is fulltime (40 or more hours/week).

Responsibilities:

Ministry Coordinator/Staff Liaison

1. Facilitate effective communication among staff, key lay leaders and church members.
2. Oversee the hiring, supervision and evaluation of all office, custodial and other support staff in their duties, including preparation of annual performance reviews and regular, informal feedback.
3. Work to minimize calendar conflicts and to coordinate resources for overlapping ministry projects.
4. Maintain personnel files in accordance with church policies and all federal, state and local laws.
5. Serve as an intentional agent of unity across all staff, ministries, and functions.
6. See that all church policies are up-to-date and followed.
7. Facilitate and/or moderate regular church business meetings as requested by the Pastor.

 Facilities

1. Oversee the cleaning, maintenance, safety and security of all buildings and grounds.
2. Coordinate building and grounds usage to avoid conflicts and to ensure all policies are followed.
3. Purchase and maintain proper insurance coverage, including sufficient liability, for all buildings and vehicles, with oversight from the Trustees.
4. Ensure the church’s compliance with regulations regarding fire and safety standards and inspections.

 Other Duties

1. Work with the Pastor, Ministerial Staff and Committee on Committees in the selection, recruitment and training of committee members.
2. Relate to other committees and ministry teams as requested by the Pastor.
3. Oversee the church’s benevolence ministry.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Qualifications:

• A background in business administration or a related field
• Previous knowledge and experience in a Southern Baptist church setting
• A clear testimony of conversion to Christ and a pattern of personal spiritual growth
• Employee shall be or become a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeside once hired.
• The Director of Operations will be subject to the church’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
