Church Profile
1. Introduction
Over the past 105 years, First Baptist Church of Hull has served the communities of Hull,
Daisetta, the surrounding areas. We are a Bible-believing church that loves the Lord and wants
to be a beacon to our communities.
2. Our Church as it is Now
Over the past ten years, membership has remained steady, ranging from 239 to 251. Active
members range in age from 2 to 85. The majority of those are young couples and working
people, with several being over 65 and retired. Our leadership team is made of off all
volunteers.
We currently hold Sunday School services with an average attendance of 10 – 12, Sunday
morning worship with an average attendance of 25 -30, and Wednesday night Prayer Meeting
with an average attendance of 6 – 8. A Nursery is provided during Sunday morning worship, and
our children meet on Wednesday nights for combined activities with two other local Baptist
churches.
Our facilities consist of three buildings. The current sanctuary was built in 1957, with the
educational wing being added in 1969. The Family Life Center was begun in 2012 and completed
in 2014. The 3-bedroom brick parsonage, located across the street from the church, was built in
1978-1979. Following Hurricane Harvey, all of our buildings were forced to undergo major
repairs. The educational wing is still under construction.
Over the past ten years, total receipts have averaged $92,720, with $77,000 being undesignated.
Total Missions giving has averaged $3,574.
3. The Church We Want to Be
Above all, we should be a people who love God, love each other, and love the community we are
called to serve.
We want to see people of all ages using and developing their gifts and fully participating in the
life of the church and its mission.
We want to be a church that is growing and moving forward with God.
Pastor Profile
Principle Function:
To proclaim the Gospel of Christ and guide the spiritual development of the congregation, lead our church
as a beacon to the community and providing administrative leadership for the church.
Responsibilities:
1. The FBC Hull Pastor will be a man who exemplifies a Godly character, is compassionate toward
others, and demonstrates a high level of competence.
2. Plan and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons.
3. Act as moderator of church business meetings.
4. Develop a strategy for member and community outreach and a discipleship program to nurture
current and new believers.
5. Attend all church functions.
6. Be reasonably available night and weekends for emergency pastoral care.
7. Comply with all established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and
state laws.
8. Spend a reasonable amount of time visiting members who are in the hospital, nursing homes, etc.
as well as prospects.
9. Keep the church informed of denominational development.
10. Conduct funeral and wedding services as time and work schedules permit.
