Children’s Minister- The WRBC Children’s minister provides strategy, leadership and vision for the children (K-6th), their families and the Children’s Ministry Team (CMT) at the Ridge. This role involves creating a nurturing environment where children can grow in their faith, equipping families to disciples their children, and fostering a vibrant, engaging ministry that aligns with the church’s mission and values. This position will work in a collaborative church environment, interacting with staff, volunteers, children, and families. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a heart for ministry. Reports to Discipleship and Family Pastor.
Job duties include the following:
Recruit CMT.
Identify leaders with a passion for children.
Identify leaders who can help with administrative tasks.
Identify leaders who are dynamic and charismatic teachers.
Develop relationships with church members to identify additional team members.
Train CMT.
Have regular meetings with leaders to examine cultural issues, discipline issues, teaching methods and calendar events.
Observe, evaluate and affirm CMT to help them understand their strengths and encourage them to be their best.
Develop relationships with CMT to encourage them, care for them and inspire them to minister to children.
Plan get togethers to build teamwork and family within the ministry.
Create and manage an annual budget.
Develop a line-item budget that clearly communicates where church dollars are spent.
Keep track of spending throughout the year to stay on track with the budget.
Implement the church’s safety policy.
Train leaders in the safety policies.
Regularly evaluate the safety policies and procedures.
Uphold the policies with all leaders in the children’s ministry.
Program Development
Plan and execute weekly ministry opportunities for Children’s ministry. (Sunday School & Wednesday)
Plan and execute 3-5 social events for children during the year. (Easter, Fall, etc.)
Plan and execute 2-4 spiritual growth special events. (kid’s camp, VBS, Superstart)
Communicate with and train parents regularly.
Have regular contact with parents regarding what is going on in the ministry.
Train parents to deal with cultural issues that pertain to children in particularly.
Equip parents to disciple their children.
Communicate with church staff and congregation regarding the vision, values, events, and procedures of the Children’s ministry.
Attend regular Education Staff meetings.
Attend regular All Staff meetings.
Calendar and communicate all Children’s ministry events.
Align every event and activity with our vision to Love God, Love Others and Make Disciples.
Develop spiritually and professionally.
Read 3 books per year that deal with youth ministry specifically.
Attend 1 conference at least every other year to hear and develop new ideas.
Meet and collaborate with other ministers in children’s ministry 2-4 times a year.

A contagious enthusiasm for children.
A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ability to create and execute energetic environments and programs that lead children to discover God and place their faith in Jesus.
Commitment to Baptist beliefs and distinctives.
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree (in ministry, education or related field is preferred).
Previous experience in children’s ministry or related field as director or volunteer.
