Pastor Job Description

The Baptist Church of Driftwood - Driftwood, Texas                                                                                                                

The pastor shall serve as the chief under-shepherd and overseer of this local church, feeding, leading, and nurturing the sheep.  This person's main responsibilities will be to communicate God's Word, minister to spiritual needs, and provide biblical leadership for the church in carrying out the work of the church.  The pastor needs to be an inspirational leader who prays and takes care of his flock - a man who focuses intensely on his church congregation, who equips and encourages the church to stay in the good graces of God, and who helps them to be a beacon in the community for Christ.  He needs to be personable and interested in his people, having a listening ear and loving heart.

Minimum Training and Experience: 

A Bachelor of Divinity Degree (or equivalent) and/or training experiences which would qualify a person to pastor and administer a Southern Baptist Church

Duties - Responsibilities

1. Biblical preaching and teaching that inspires, motivates, equips, and nurtures the people of the church through example, preaching and teaching God's Word, and spiritual counseling.
2. Provide leadership and organizational skills to guide the fellowship in carrying out the work of the church such as reaching the local community and spreading the Gospel.
3. Lead in prayer and Bible study.
4. Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revivals or other special services, visitation, and other outreach efforts.
5. Manage his money with integrity so as not to bring reproach upon the church.
6. Moderate business and other meetings of the church.
7. Cooperate with local, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern.
8. Facilitate/lead the contact/visitation of hospitalized or grieving church members.
9. Oversee church discipline and manage conflict in the church.
