First Baptist Church Iraan is prayerfully seeking a bi-vocational pastor who senses God’s call to rural ministry and affirms the Baptist Faith and Message (2000). We desire a shepherd who leads through faithful biblical preaching, relational presence, and community engagement.
This is not simply a pulpit position. It is a calling to shepherd a people in a small, fluctuating oil field town where relationships matter deeply.
2. About Our Church
First Baptist Church Iraan is a loving, close-knit Baptist congregation with deep community roots. Though we are not a large church, we are a committed one. Our members care deeply about one another and about the health and future of our church.
We are actively involved in the life of our community, particularly in supporting local school events. Many of our families have lived here for generations, while others come and go with the oil industry. Through every season, our church has remained anchored in God’s Word.
We value:
3. Our Community
Iraan is a small, quiet, and peaceful West Texas town. While geographically isolated with limited amenities and resources, it offers a safe environment and strong community connections.
As an oil field town, the population—and church attendance—can fluctuate depending on industry cycles. Many of our members live outside the city limits, enjoying the rural West Texas lifestyle.
Friday night ballgames, school programs, and community events bring the town together. In this setting, a pastor’s presence is meaningful and noticed.
4. Why Rural Ministry Matters
In a world that often measures success by size and visibility, rural ministry reminds us that faithfulness is what matters most.
Rural ministry is:
Personal
Ministry here is relationship-driven, not program-driven.
You will know your people.
You will walk through life with families across generations.
Your life and doctrine will both be visible.
Strategic
Small towns are mission fields.
Discipling one father influences a household.
Investing in one student shapes a future.
Shepherding one family impacts a network of relationships.
Rooted
Longevity builds trust.
Consistency produces fruit.
Faithfulness leaves a lasting legacy.
We are not seeking someone who sees this as a stepping-stone, but someone who senses a genuine calling to rural ministry.
