Position Title - Senior Pastor
Church Overview
Located in downtown Marshall, Texas, Central Baptist is aligned with the Southern Baptist Convention, Texas Baptists, and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. We give allegiance to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. We are financially stable and debt free. The current resident membership is 324 and Sunday School enrollment is 108. Our staff includes Interim Pastor, Associate Pastor of Worship and Administration, four part-time ministers, Church Secretary, and Financial Secretary. Many opportunities to serve the church and the community exist through the various church ministry groups.
Position Summary
The Senior Pastor will work with the church leadership and church staff to provide opportunities for members to engage in worship, discipleship, and missions. He will develop skills and training to assess the congregation's current and long-term needs and provide counsel and leadership to help the church identify what it is called to be in the future. The Senior Pastor will support the congregation so that it can continue to identify its mission and purpose as the body of Christ.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as spiritual leader who diligently prays, studies, and prepares for all preaching and teaching responsibilites.
- Plan and coordinate meaningful worship experiences that will lead to spiritual growth of the membership.
- Plan and coordinate with the church staff and church leaders to develop on-going discipleship and evangelism training opportunities.
- Visit prospects as part of our community missions and provide direction in leading church members to support visitation/ministry as well.
- Identify needs and lead the staff, deacon body, and membership in a ministry of caring and visitation for people in need in the church and community.
- Serve as the leader of the church and assist in selection of staff and support staff.
Qualifications
The Senior Pastor must be a licensed ordained minister of the Gospel who is a graduate of a Baptist seminary. He must demonstrate appropriate theological, doctrinal, and administrative skills to adequately fulfill the requirements of the position. The individual must be a strong communicator with the ability to engage with multiple generations. The individual must have experience in supervising church staff and volunteers.
