Job Description
Job Title: Youth Minister Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports and Responsible to: Pastor Part-time position
Primary Purpose:
Develop and provide spiritual, relational, organizational, and administrative leadership to the youth (grades 7-12) with Discipleship being a priority
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Church bus driver certification /endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must affirm the “The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 version” without reservation
Have a sense/call and a passion for working with youth and team members
Have spiritual maturity and high moral and ethical standards (1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9)
Be friendly and enthusiastic
Have effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, and verbal skills
Have effective computer/technology skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan and implement the design of the youth program under the direction of the pastor
- Provide leadership in teaching Sunday school, discipleship training, and Wednesday night activities
- Train, equip, and nurture the leadership of the Student Ministry
- Integrate students into the church body for service and discipleship opportunities
- Support the entire direction and program of the church
- Work with the youth committee in carrying out the spiritual and social programs as needed
- Encourage and provide learning opportunities for parents of the youth
- Coordinate (with the assistance from the youth committee) special events or programs such as: youth emphasis services, retreats, evangelism, mission endeavors and camps
- Plan all youth committee meetings and coordinate with the pastor’s secretary to avoid conflicts with other committee meetings
- Be responsible for the basic care of the youth building and church bus after its use
- Attend training and/or professional development as needed or required
- Submit receipts and invoices to the treasurer in a timely manner
- Advise the pastor of any absences (anticipated or not)
- Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the pastor
